This study aims to develop a proposed sports relief program based on sports
games and explore its impact on the development of certain dimensions of
psychological immune response, including self-confidence, psychological
compatibility, and optimism among middle school students at Mohamed Al-Zain
ibn Al-Madani High School in biskra, Algeria. The study used an experimental
approach, with a sample of 120 students in the third year of middle school. The
survey sample consisted of 29 students, and the main study was conducted with 56
students, with 28 students in the control group and 28 students in the experimental
group. Data was collected using the self-confidence, psychological compatibility,
and optimism scales. Statistical methods, such as percentages, means, medians,
standard deviations, the Levin test for homogeneity between groups, the split-half
method for stability, Spearman-Brown correction, Cronbach's alpha, Pearson
correlation, and t-test for related and independent samples, and effect size, were
utilized with SPSS statistical package. The study's main findings were as follows:
• There were no statistically significant differences in the pre- and postmeasurements of psychological immune response dimensions (self-confidence,
psychological compatibility, optimism) among students in the control group.
• There were statistically significant differences in the pre- and postmeasurements of psychological immune response dimensions (self-confidence,
psychological compatibility, optimism) among students in the experimental
group, in favor of the post-measurements, indicating positive effects of the
proposed sports relief program.
• There were statistically significant differences between the pre- and postmeasurements of psychological immune response dimensions (self-confidence,
psychological compatibility, optimism) among students in both the control and
experimental groups, with the experimental group showing higher
improvements, which can be attributed to the proposed sports relief program.
Thus, it can be concluded that the proposed sports relief program has a positive
impact on the development of certain dimensions of psychological immune
response, including self-confidence, psychological compatibility, and optimism,
among third-year middle school students. |
