Abstract

This study aims at identifying the methods of developing the venture capital as a mechanism to fund the small and middle-sized companies in Algeria, it addresses the conceptual framework of SMEs and their financing methods, as well as the general concepts of venture capital and how it contributes to financing these enterprises, while also referring to international examining the Algeria context. Findings show that the small and middle-sized companies in Algeria did not achieve the target results and that the venture capital is a modest experience. Besides, the main obstacles that hinder the development of the companies include the low number and weak experiences of the venture capital companies, the entrepreneurs’ low awareness about this method, and the intervention in the management of the companies that benefited from the venture capital, the study also presents a set of recommendation aimed at promomting the development of venture capital in Algeria.
