Numerical modeling of tribological behavior for filled polymer Modélisation numérique du comportement tribologique d’un polymère chargé
(MENDAS Mohammed / TELDJOUN Mohamed, 2024) MORSLI, Hanane
Microscratch testing is a widely used technique to evaluate the surface damage and tribological properties of metallic and polymeric materials and their composites. This work specifically addressed to study of the tribological behavior of filled polypropylene, a common and important type of polymer widely used for fabrication of many objects. Using anterior articles research, the mechanical behavior of neat Polypropylene and talc-filled Polypropylene was determined using Origin® software. The results from the Origin® software were then exported and imported into a numerical model using the commercial software Abaqus code. The microscratch numerical tests enabled the investigation of several important physical properties, including deformations, Von-Mises stresses, normal and tangential loads, as well as the coefficient of friction. The numerical results were discussed in function of talc proportion and the corresponding mechanical properties. The evolution of Von Mises stresses, material displacement, scratching forces and friction of coefficient were analyzed and discussed
