Abstract

The study aimed to identify the effect of a proposed training program using high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on the development of maximal aerobic speed (MAS) and maximal oxygen consumption (VO₂max) among under19 football players. To achieve this experimentally, the researcher adopted the experimental method using a two-group design (experimental and control) with pre- and post-measurements. The study sample consisted of 18 under-19 football players who were purposefully selected and evenly divided into two groups: 9 players in the experimental group and 9 in the control group. As for the study tools, the researcher used the Vameval test to measure maximal aerobic speed and a treadmill test to assess maximal oxygen consumption, in addition to implementing the proposed training program designed by the researcher. The results revealed statistically significant differences at the 0.05 significance level between the pre- and post-tests in both the MAS and VO₂max tests in favor of the post-test for the experimental group. Furthermore, the researcher found statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in both variables, in favor of the experimental group subjected to the high-intensity interval training. In light of these findings, the researcher recommends the adoption of this training method and the use of the proposed program to improve maximal aerobic speed and maximal oxygen consumption in under-19 football players
